The Oxford High School Debate Team showcased their remarkable skills at the South Hampstead Winter Debating Competition on Saturday 7th December. The competition drew over 100 teams from across the country, serving as prime preparation for the ICYD, Oxford and Cambridge debating circuits.
Leading the charge was Evie in year 12, who claimed the title of Best Speaker out of over 100 participants, an extraordinary feat in such a highly competitive field. Evie, alongside her teammate Emilia, advanced to the grand final, ranking as one of the top four teams of the day. Emilia also excelled individually, earning recognition as the 6th Best Speaker.
Alicia and Lucia Austin added to the team’s success, breaking through to the Bronze Final, placing them among the top 12 teams at the event. Their performance further cemented Oxford High’s reputation for excellence in debating. Our other teams, including Ayla, Maria, Zelah, Louisa and Maia also performed admirably. Each team secured a first-place finish in at least one of their rounds, showcasing their skill and determination.
