It’s a real privilege to get to work in a school that has such a united prep school and senior school – not just for the staff but it’s a real asset for the pupils as well.
Secondary school can often be a little daunting when in Year 6 – not knowing what to expect, new subjects you’ve never learnt before, new teachers you’ve never met and even lots of new faces can be a little intimidating.
That’s why we like to introduce our big sisters and senior school staff earlier on to make the journey to Senior School no longer daunting but something to look forward to!
Of course, we visit the Senior School for swimming, sports activities and go to see what’s on the stag that week but it’s so much more than building visits.
Our senior school sisters come down to visit to teach periodically from German to Italian lessons to combining our two school councils to discuss school councilly matters…It’s not just a benefit for us either, the older students get the opportunity to see what teaching is like, responsibility and independence too! All for one and one for all for our OHS Sisterhood.
