OHS hosts Oxfordshire Book Awards

Our wonderful OHS Library welcomed nearly 400 visitors in school for the Oxfordshire Book Awards. Authors attending included Teresa Heapy, Sue Heap, Robin Stevens, Jo Cotterill, Virginia Bergin and Matt Brown who talked about their books and the 2015 winners were awarded their presentations with reviews read out by individual pupils. Children and teachers from 30 Oxfordshire schools attended and the sponsors of the event were RM, Pickabook, Waitrose, Oxford High School, the Doris Field Trust, Raintree, The Souldern Trust and the Oxfordshire Community Foundation. The 2016 OBA Awards were formally launched at the end of the ceremony followed by book-signing and refreshments.

Best Secondary Novel

Winner – She is not Invisible by Marcus Sedgwick

Highly Commended – Looking at the Stars by Jo Cotterill

Best Primary Novel

Winner – Murder Most Unladylike by Robin Stevens

Highly Commended – Goth Girl & the Ghost of a Mouse by Chris Riddell

Best Picture Book

Winner – Very Little Red Riding Hood by Teresa Heapy & Sue Heap

Highly Commended – There’s a Shark in the Bath by Sarah Macintyre
