New Head for Oxford High Junior School

5 September 2018

I am delighted to announce that the new Head of Oxford High Junior School from January 2019 will be Mrs Jessica Williams. Jessica will be joining us from Ashfold Preparatory School where she has been Deputy Head and Head of Girls for over five years. With over twenty years teaching and managerial experience, Jessica began her career as a Biology teacher and then became Head of Year 7 at Aylesbury Grammar School, where she established the induction programme for new pupils entering the senior school from feeder primary and prep schools. She has also been Head of Boarding at Lucton School in rural Herefordshire and a science teacher at Llandovery College in Wales. She has taught Biology, Chemistry and Maths plus A level Psychology and has, in her current role at Ashfold, led on pastoral care and deputising for the Head when required. Jessica was born in Wales and educated in Northern Ireland, Cyprus, Hong Kong and England. She was awarded a first class honours degree in Physiology and Psychology from the University of Southampton followed by a PGCE in Secondary Science and Biology from Homerton College, Cambridge. Jessica describes herself as a keen runner and occasional tennis player. She enjoys walking with her husband, also a teacher, and the family Jack Russell, Pippa. She is parent to three teenage daughters and she is very excited at the prospect of leading Oxford High, with all the potential that it has to offer. We are of course very fortunate to have in place our experienced team led by Kate Gater and Nick Dawson to guide the school through a smooth transition to January 2019.
