Music at the Junior School – Summer Term

10 July 2015

Another busy term for music!

Alongside the weekly year group choir rehearsals, class music lessons included an introduction to music technology for Year 6, Holst’s “Planets” and composing space music in Year 4, learning how to make sound effects on keyboards in Year 4 and composing “Desert” music for Year 3.  In addition, Year 3 took part in our annual Singing Day at the Dragon School;  KS1 performed their Summer Concert; Training Orchestra played in assembly; Year 6 performed “Bugsy Malone” and our Summer Concert included our senior ensembles and all of Year 5 and 6!   Just in the last week of term, the Chamber Choir sang at the National Festival of Music for Youth, proudly wearing their new t-shirts.  Later they attended a workshop with other schools led by a National Schools Choir Leader.   Our last musical event took place with Dr. Shayan Meysami giving a demonstration on the Persian tombak  drum followed by Year 6 having a masterclass on basic technique.
