Modern Foreign Languages Partnerships

14 February 2022

Over the past couple of months, the Modern Languages Faculty has developed partnerships with schools in Europe.

The German department launched an exchange with Staatliche Realschule in Rottenburg. It was fantastic to see an article about this new venture in their own school newsletter last month.

The French department started a partnership with Lycée Eugène Livet in Nantes. Students studying French in the Sixth Form sent their first letters last week and were very happy and excited to receive theirs in return. We hope that they will continue writing to their new pen friends for many months to come and perhaps even meet in person in the not-too-distant future.

Our Year 9 and Year 10 Spanish groups have been corresponding with students at IES Augustóbriga in Navalmoral de la Mata in Spain for several months.

Finally, the Italian department set up a link with Liceo Scientifico Enrico Fermi in Bologna and we hope that this is the start of a long-lasting relationship with our Italian friends.

The last two years have made travelling abroad very difficult and we hope that these incentives will allow OHS students to practise modern foreign languages in real situations and hopefully develop life-long friendships with students across Europe.
