Meet the Prefects

6 March 2025

We are thrilled to introduce the newest cohort of Year 12 Prefects and House Prefects who embody leadership and dedication at OHS. Our Prefect Team play a leading role in representing the views of their peers and promoting positive behaviour. Over the next year, they will work closely with the Head, Director of Sixth Form and Heads of Houses to create a positive impact on school life.

February is always an exciting month as it marks the beginning of the term of office for our new House and School Prefect Teams. Nominations for these elections come from Year 12 students who are asked to put forward the names of peers who they believe have the qualities needed to lead. Staff and students then vote in a secret ballot. On election, the first task of the School Prefect team is to elect the Head Girl, Deputy Head Girls, Chair of School Council and GDST Student Council rep. Both in-coming teams of prefects are celebrated in whole school assemblies and introduced to the school, signing their names in the book which records each prefect team (an OHS tradition going back decades) and receiving their prefect and sunflower badges from their peers in the out-going teams, as one team hands over to the next. We look forward to seeing how both prefect teams make a positive impact to the school and wider community over the coming year.Ms Pallas Brown, Director Of Sixth Form

School Prefects

Isabella

Hi, I’m Isabella and I’m a Music, Drama and Year 10 Prefect. As one of the Year 10 Prefects, I’m really looking forward to getting to know the year group and supporting them as they get ready for GCSEs. I’m also excited to make drama more inclusive for everyone in the school and as one of the Music Prefects, I would love to encourage more people to get involved with music at school as well as share music with our wider community.

Amy

I am Amy and I am the GDST Student Council Representative. As part of this role I get to meet with the GDST and our sister schools to tell them about all of the amazing things happening here at OHS as well as learning about the other initiatives taking place across the GDST. I am really excited to represent OHS at the GDST and give back to a school that has provided me with so many amazing opportunities.

Leonora

Hi, I’m Leonora (Leo) and I’m your Sixth Form and Library Prefect. I’m really looking forward to improving sixth form life and encouraging the school to spend more time reading to expand their educational horizons, which I feel will link closely with my role as Academic Prefect. In my role, I hope to support both students and staff by promoting immersion in learning, helping to maintain an enriching library environment, and assisting with Sixth Form events.

Clara

Hi, I’m Clara and I’m the one of the new Music, Y11 and Admissions Prefects. I’m really looking forward to supporting Y11 in the months coming up to their exams and am hoping to work with Dr Foster to create some exciting opportunities to enhance the musical experience offered here at OHS. Having played in a variety of different musical ensembles in school, I hope to bring lots of experience and enthusiasm to the table so that we can help make music more accessible and inclusive. I’m also excited to be an Admissions Prefect and give back to the school!

Mariah

Hi, my name is Mariah. I am a Year 9 admissions and eco prefect. I am honoured to be part of the prefect team and excited to contribute to school life. Through my roles, I am looking forward to getting to know the Year 9s better to build a stronger connection to the Lower School. I am excited to be working and learning from Dr Chorley on how, as a school community, we can improve on decreasing our ecological footprint. From the admissions side, I aim to assist with welcoming prospective students, giving tours, and ensuring they feel comfortable wherever possible.

Laura

Hi! I’m Laura, one of the Deputy Head Girls, as well as a Sports and Year 11 Prefect. Over the course of the next year, I aim to continue enhancing our learning environment by building connections between the various year groups, helping to build a stronger sense of community. As Year 11 Prefect, I’m eager to be a source of support and guidance as they navigate a challenging and transitional time. In my role as Sports Prefect, I’m excited to encourage everyone to get involved in the expansive co-curricular activities this wonderful school has to offer.

Malavika

I’m Malavika, and I am Chair of School Council, a Year 8 prefect and a Social Action prefect. As Chair of School Council, I hope to maintain the strong student voice at OHS by helping students improve the school with their own ideas and I’m looking forward to working with the Prep School Council to help younger years – I’m also excited to be a Year 8 prefect for similar reasons. Being a Social Action prefect also appealed to me because I want to make involvement in charitable activities in and out of school both enjoyable and more accessible.

Izzy & Lara

Hi, we’re Izzy and Lara, and we’re the art and Y7 prefects. We are both really looking forward to getting to know all the Y7s better, and to the Y7 talent show! We are also looking forward  to continuing ‘artist of the month’ drawing competition for the staff.

Sophie

Hi, I am Sophie and I will be a Wellbeing, Social Action and Prep School Prefect for the next year. I am really hoping to get more people excited and engaged about wellbeing activities. As one of the Social Action Prefects I am looking forward to be able to raise money for important charities in order to give back and to support the community. I am also wishing to create more exciting opportunities for the students in the Prep School.

Bori

My name is Bori and I am honoured to be your new Co-Deputy Head Girl! One of our prefect team’s goals this coming year is to work with the lower school and prep school, so that the Oxford High community can feel connected and collaborate as a whole school more often. Alongside this, I will be embracing my role of Charity and Social Action Prefect with Malavika and Sophie, to lead both our Sixth Form charity contributions and the wider school’s impact on making a positive difference in our local area. I am also Year 8 prefect with Malavika, and we hope to guide this lovely year and act as a voice for any of their proposed reforms regarding the school.

House Prefects

Emily CP, Zeus

I am very excited to be a Zeus House Prefect. I want to help create a positive and supportive environment where everyone feels included and encouraged to take part in house activities. Over the next year, I aim to strengthen house spirit by organising events that bring people together and motivate them to get involved. My goal is to make sure everyone feels valued and proud to be part of our house, creating a strong sense of community and teamwork.

Uma, Zeus

Hi everyone, I am Uma, and I’m excited to be one of your new Zeus House prefects. I joined OHS this year and I cannot wait for the opportunity to give something back and play such an important role within the school community.  My role is to support our house, encourage teamwork, and, of course, help us win! Over the next year, I want to make Zeus the best it can be by creating a strong, inclusive community where everyone feels heard and valued. Whether it’s competitions, events, or just general questions about school, I’m here to listen to your ideas and help us all succeed to make this the best year.

Emily C, Zeus

I am super excited to be one of the new Zeus prefects this year. It’s a great opportunity to have and I hope to bring lots of energy and plenty of competitive house spirit to Zeus. I aim to make sure that everyone feels encouraged and supported but most importantly gets involved in every house competition and has fun .I have already met so many people through mentoring and sports, and I can’t wait to get involved with running house competition and making more connections with younger years. Go Zeus!!

Aaron, Caoimhe & Millie, Ares

HI ARES! We’re your new prefects – Aaron, Caoimhe and Millie – and we’re so excited for the year ahead. In upcoming competitions, we hope to be able to work with Ares pupils from all years, showcasing our undefeated house spirit in the hopes of winning the house cup next summer term! If you like sports, music or just want to have fun, please come along to any events you hear about – we genuinely love (and really benefit from) hearing all your ideas and seeing your fabulous talents. Even if you’re unsure, we’ll always be able to find a role for you to play in house events! GO ARES!!!

Silvia, Poseidon

I’m so excited to be a Poseidon Prefect this year! It’s an amazing opportunity, and I can’t wait to bring energy, positivity, and plenty of house spirit to everything we do. Over the next year, I want to make sure everyone feels included, supported, and proud to be part of Poseidon whether that’s through house events, collecting house point or cheering each other on. I’ve loved getting involved in clubs, mentoring, and house activities with the lower school and I can’t wait to keep building those connections. With my competitive spirit and love for teamwork, I’ll do my best to help Poseidon stay on top and of course the winners. Go Poseidon!!!

Masha, Poseidon

Hey everyone! I’m Masha and I am Poseidon’s new house prefect. Over the past few years I have loved taking part in various house events and now I can’t wait to have the opportunity to lead and organise these events for Poseidon. My goal is to bring support, drive, positivity and improve house spirit so everyone feels included and part of one team. Over the next year, I will do my best to encourage as many people as possible to participate in house competitions, which of course we will win!! I’m very excited to be working alongside Silvia and Christina to make a positive impact on the house. GO POSEIDON!

Effie, Athena

I’m Effie and I’ve been lucky enough to be assigned as one of the Athena House Prefects! It’s such an honour to have this role, as I’ve been at this school for 14 years and have always been so involved in my house. A little bit about me is that I’m quite sporty and love a bit of music and drama, so I’m super excited for events like House Drama, Music and Sports Day. I think my main goal for my time as Prefect is to get as many people involved as possible and have lots of fun (also hopefully lots of winning)!
