Malcolm Arnold concert

As part of their 140th anniversary year celebrations, Oxford High School are performing a special Malcolm Arnold Concert in honour of the late composer and are delighted to have as their special guests Katherine Arnold, daughter of Sir Malcolm and Fiona Southerby, his agent. The concert is timed to be part of the 10th Malcolm Arnold Festival. 

Born in 1921, Sir Malcolm Arnold is one of the towering figures of the 20th century, with nine symphonies, seven ballets, two operas, one musical, over twenty concertos, two string quartets, and music for brass-band and wind-band. He also wrote132 film scores including Bridge on the River Kwai (for which he won an Oscar in 1958, ), Inn of the Sixth Happiness , Hobson’s Choice and Whistle Down the Wind. He helped establish and support, through the writing of works and fundraising, the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Sir Malcolm Arnold died in September 2006.

The Programme for the Oxford High concert includes performances by the OHS Chamber Choir and String Orchestra.
