At Oxford High School, leadership begins long before the world beyond our classrooms beckon. We are thrilled to announce the launch of this year’s Sixth Form Prefect elections – a pivotal moment in our school calendar and a transformative opportunity for our students to take charge, make their voices heard and continue to shape their school.
The Prefect system is a hallmark of our Sixth Form experience, designed to empower students with the skills and confidence needed to lead with purpose. It is more than just a title; it is an opportunity for students to step into roles that challenge and inspire them, fostering teamwork, responsibility and innovation. There will be 14 Prefects, including Head Girl, Deputy Head Girl, Chair of Student Council and the GDST Student Council Representative.
Why Prefects Matter
Throughout their year tenure (March 2025 – March 2026), our Prefects play a vital role in the life of the school. They work closely with the Head and Director of Sixth Form, representing student voices in key decisions, organising events or mentoring younger pupils, Prefects set the tone for our school’s values in action. Their efforts create a ripple effect, reinforcing a culture of kindness, inclusivity and excellence that benefits the entire school community.
Prefects gain first-hand experience of what it means to, articulate their vision and connect with their peers. The process is a powerful way for students to build confidence in public speaking, critical thinking and collaboration – skills that are not only key to success in the Sixth Form but also invaluable for life beyond school.
