On Thursday 22nd June 2023, we held our second Kaleidoscope Day of the academic year. The essence of the day is to give students the chance to go off-timetable and enjoy learning in a different environment.
Hampton Court
Year 7 headed off to Hampton Court Palace to learn more about Tudor life in preparation for studying the topic in Year 8. While at Hampton Court, they had the opportunity to explore the beautiful buildings and gardens, including Henry’s Great Hall.
Rushall Farm
Year 8 had the opportunity to visit Rushall Organic Farm to learn about managing resources for a growing world. They were able to see organic farming in action and build on their knowledge gained from Geography lessons.
Wellness Day
Our Year 9s took part in a Wellness day, organised by the Head of PSHCE Mrs Sheppard. They enjoyed a series of talks on different topics ranging from how to deal with evolving friendships to managing exam stress. They also had the opportunity to develop self-defense skills in a specialist workshop.
Careers Day
Year 10 participated in a ‘Green Dragons’ Careers Day with the company Bright Green Enterprise, where they had the opportunity to develop an environmentally friendly business plan to pitch to the Dragons. Each group put an incredible amount of effort and passion into their pitches, they developed key employability skills, such as leadership, public speaking and financial literacy, as well as a deeper understanding of environmental issues across the world.
Higher Education Day
Finally, Year 12 enjoyed a ‘Pathways into Higher Education’ day, which featured a number of sessions designed to inform and support the students as they consider life after OHS. They were visited by representatives from various universities across the country.
It was a fantastic day for all involved! Huge thanks to all of our students and staff who were involved.
