This Halloween saw our first JEMS Challenge morning of the 2017/18 academic year. JEMS stands for Juniors in Engineering Maths and Science and is an Oxford High School initiative led by Mrs Maria Whittington from the Science Department. We welcomed Year 5 pupils from five different local schools who worked alongside our own OHS Year 5 pupils from 9am-midday, all mentored by the dynamic girls from Year 8. It was extremely busy! Plenty of hands -on experimental design challenges to grapple with, and the time simply flew by. The JEMS mornings are a a valuable experience for Year 5 pupils, and a wonderful opportunity for the Year 8 students who always demonstrate leadership, humour and common sense -well done girls, you were great. Roll on our next JEMS Challenge morning next term!
