Head’s Awards are given for outstanding achievements or exceptional performance in any area: academic, pastoral or co-curricular.
The following students are all recipients of a Head’s Award this half term:
Amy W (Year 10) submitted her entry for the RCSU Science Challenge, organised by the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Imperial College London. The judges were impressed by her ability to effectively communicate scientific concepts in an engaging and accessible way. She has also been shortlisted for the RCSU Prize for Excellence in Multi-Media for Science Communication. We wish her the very best for the Awards Ceremony on the 29th June 2023.
Amy has received another Head’s Award this term. At the end of last term, we heard that Amy had earned a place at the UK Atomic Energy Authority, for an invaluable work experience opportunity. The UKAEA is a fusion research facility based in Culham, Oxfordshire, that houses the UK’s largest fusion reactor – named JET. We wish her the very best of luck!
Lucinda J (Year 9) entered the ‘Your Voice is Power’ competition, reaching the top 45 in the country. She used programme code to create an original music track by mixing numerous music samples together.
Jennifer Z (Year 9) was one of four runners up in the ‘Your Voice is Power’ competition. Congratulations!
Cassia H (Year 10) won the Upper Thames Regional Rowing Contest earlier this year. Similarly, due to her outstanding ability, and one of the highest ERG score’s in the country, Cassia was promoted to the Junior 18. We wish her all the very best as she competes in Henley this summer.
Ciera T (Year 12) participated in a national ice skating competition in March, Ciera came 10th out of 60 in the under 19s.
Elizabeth Z (Year 12) competed at the Cheerleading World Championship at ESPN in Florida. Her team did amazingly and were placed 4th in the world in a very competitive and tough division – International Open Level 6. They were rated as top European and top British team, once again! This now means that Elizabeth is a three times British champion and two times European champion at this level.
Their efforts have demonstrated one or more of the school’s key attributes: to be responsible, curious, courageous, respectful, resilient and collaborative. Congratulations to all!
