In the latest of our Higher Education updates, Miss Pallas-Brown talks us through the current enthusiasm for STEAM (Science, Technology, Arts and Maths) subjects at OHS, and the far-reaching impacts they can have.
44% of this year’s UCAS applicants are holding offers for a wide range of STEM and STEAM subjects, reflecting the undoubted strength of these subjects at OHS. Nothing is off-limits for our students – whether in terms of A level choice now or pathways for the future – and that is seen very clearly in our students’ choices.
In the A-Z of STEM/STEAM, everything from Aerospace Engineering and Architecture to Zoology is represented. The breadth of our students’ interests and expertise in this area of academic endeavour is astonishing. It’s no surprise to see the perennially popular Biomedical Sciences, Natural Sciences and Medicine appear in large numbers. Engineering, Computer Science, Physics and Mathematics have also been gaining in popularity over the last few years.
