On Tuesday 20th April, Year 13 girls studying French A Level took part in a translation workshop led by Jenny Higgins. Jenny is a professional translator and also the programme manager of the Queen’s College Translation Exchange.
The girls studied techniques for translating French literature into English. They looked in detail at the novel “Nouons-nous” by Emmanuelle Pagano which Jenny co-translated into English.
The girls were also able to put their own language skills and creativity into practice and we hope that this will pay dividends in the forthcoming tests.
“We all loved the translation workshop today! Translating creatively gave us a great opportunity to go further than our syllabus and use our imagination to explore the French language in the context of its literature.”
