The GDST and The Thomas Franks Foundation have teamed up to combat holiday hunger this festive season. Together they will prepare and distribute 12,000 meals in two days for disadvantaged children and vulnerable adults across London and Oxfordshire.
Here at Oxford High, we’re delighted to be one of the six GDST schools involved with this initiative; our school kitchens will be one of the locations in which the meals are prepared this coming Thursday and Friday (17thand 18th December), before being distributed to various local charities.
From Cheryl Giovannoni, CEO of the GDST:
“I am so proud that the GDST is helping to combat holiday hunger this Christmas. The Feeding Communities at Christmas is a vitally important project. Food poverty is a huge issue across the UK right now and we all have a part to play in ensuring that nobody goes hungry this festive season. If the Covid pandemic has taught us anything, it is the importance of kindness, community and looking after each other. Christmas is an important time to remind ourselves that when we come together, united by our common humanity, we can achieve anything.”
