The girls at Oxford High School are once more heading off to leading universities with an abundance of outstanding A Level exam results giving them a flying start to the next stage of their lives.
- 26% of our grades were A*
- 62% of our grades were A*-A
- 24% of those heading to university this year gained a place at Oxford or Cambridge
- Of those heading to Oxbridge, 4 have offers to study Natural Sciences
- 14% of those heading to university this year are studying languages
Pictured below is Chloe Troughear, an HSBC Scholar at OHS who joined us in the Sixth Form from Cherwell School and who is celebrating her 18th birthday today. Chloe is now heading to Birmingham to study Politics with an A* in Politics amongst her brilliant results.

“I am delighted for and proud of every one of our Year 13. I have no doubt these young women are set to change the world with their ambitions which range from Natural Sciences at Cambridge to Archaeology at UCL. What I have found particularly interesting is the sheer volume of girls studying languages at a time when, sadly, so many schools particularly in the state sector are having to cut back on language teaching. 25% of our Year 13 at OHS took a language A Level and 14% are now heading to university for Modern Languages degrees. A handful of girls are also going on from their Latin and Greek A Levels to study Classics.
Our Year 11 girls had many reasons to celebrate with a fantastic 71% of grades at A* (or the numeric equivalent) in their GCSEs. An impressive 78% of girls achieved 9 or more A*/A equivalent grades. It is always invidious to single out individuals, but Claudia Preston’s clean sweep of all A* and grade 9s, the highest grades available in all the ten subjects which she sat, merits special mention. All of our girls took at least one language, with 69% taking two or more languages. The cumulative percentage of language grades at A*/A/9-7 was a remarkable 97%, with grades at A*/9/8 totalling an impressive 77%. Our Hispanists, with 82% of grades at A*, were narrowly pipped to the post by our Latinists, who registered a remarkable 88% of grades 9/8. It seems that our school motto seems as apposite as ever – Ad Lucem!”
