Join Us to Celebrate the Extended Research Project

15 January 2025

We are thrilled to invite you to our Extended Research Project (ERP) Celebration Evening on Tuesday 4th February 2025, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM, with drinks served from 6:00 PM.

This special evening is a highlight of the academic calendar, celebrating the exceptional research and intellectual curiosity of our Sixth Form students. It’s a chance to witness their passion for discovery and the incredible work they’ve accomplished as part of our curriculum.

What Is the ERP?

Named after a former Headmistress, Baroness Mary Warnock, the ERP is a cornerstone of the Sixth Form experience at Oxford High School. This self-directed research project allows students to explore topics beyond their A-Level studies, fostering critical thinking, independence, and academic growth.

Highlights of the Evening

You’ll have the chance to hear from students as they present their projects and showcase their research through poster displays. This year’s topics include:

  • How are methods of immersion in horror video games similar and different from horror literature?
  • Has immigration helped or hindered the United States of America’s labour markets in the last 10 years (2013–2023)?
  • Is generative AI a threat to workers? An exploration into the impact of generative AI on workers and the labour market.
  • Is Peacetime Cyber Espionage Sufficiently Regulated Under International Law, Specifically the Charter of the United Nations?
  • Ragwort – Killer Weed or Biodiversity Champion?
  • What can archaeological evidence from Sarmizegetusa Regia tell us about the significance of a Dacian threat to the Romans?
  • How Does Depression Cause Type 2 Diabetes?
  • The autism sex ratio: how did it develop and what will happen next?

For current and prospective Sixth Form families, this event provides a glimpse into the enriching academic opportunities offered at Oxford High School. It’s an inspiring evening for anyone curious about how the ERP supports our students in pushing the boundaries of learning and discovery.

We look forward to welcoming you on Tuesday, 4th February 2025. If you haven’t already, please confirm your attendance by RSVPing here.
