We are really proud of Emily’s fantastic achievements on the squash court, making her the top squash player in England, for her age group.
National Gold Tournament
In December, Emily (Year 10) competed in the National Gold Tournament in Leeds. She competed in the Under 17 (U17) category, winning straight sets in all of her matches. She won against both the Polish number 1 and the former Australian number 1 in the semi-final, despite feeling nervous in front of the crowds.
World Junior Championships
Emily’s winning streak sent her into the World Junior Championships with confidence. Out of over 800 elite squash players from around the world, Emily faced the Indian, Egyptian and Hong Kong number 1s. And there was added pressure, because one match was played on the Show Court in front of a large audience.
The coaches were impressed with Emily’s attitude, composure and resilience, with one match lasting over an hour! We are excited to confirm that all of her hard work paid off and she came 11th in the competition, making her the top U17 squash player in England. What a fantastic achievement!
We are so proud of Emily and her sporting success.
