Educational Visits

3 May 2015

Where in the world will you find an Oxford High School girl? The answer is anywhere – and everywhere!

Our students enjoy the rich experience of eye-opening educational visits and residential trips in the UK and abroad. Our girls have travelled to China, Paris, Moscow, Strasbourg, Munich, Barcelona, New York and Washington, Iceland, Nepal and many more.

We also take advantage of the wealth of treasures on our door in Oxford. We firmly believe that residential weeks play an important role in inspiring and motivating our girls with experiences beyond the classroom. Examples of regular residentials include Year 7’s visit to Kilve in Somerset for a challenging, but thoroughly enjoyable activity week and Year 8’s adventure on the South Coast where they explore a packed cross-curricular programme making links between Classics, Geography and Biology.

Closer to home, subjects are brought alive so much more effectively when combined with visits to museums, galleries and via fieldwork. We are fortunate to have world-class institutions on our door step here in Oxford and these visits enable our students to develop project-based work across all areas of the curriculum: from studying Chinese cultural heritage at the British museum before sampling dim sum in China Town in Year 9 to attending an Oxford University lecture on ‘The story of Equations’ in Year 12.
