We are delighted to announce that Yumna, Reika, Tashika, and Niv in Year 8 are through to the semi-finals of the CyberFirst Girls Competition!
Last month, more than 6,500 schoolgirls nationwide, aged 12-13 years old, entered the first round of the competition. Here, they demonstrated their digital skills and codebreaking prowess through a multitude of cryptography, logic, and networking puzzles for a chance to be crowned codebreaking champions in the UK’s flagship cyber security contest.
Qualifying for the semi-finals means that Yumna, Reika, Tashika, and Niv are now in the top 350 of the 6,500 participants! It will be held online on 19th March and the winners will go on to compete at the Grand Final in April.
The competition aims to inspire schoolgirls to consider a career in cyber security – an industry where women are still under-represented.
OHS has constantly witnessed great success in this competition, with previous teams always making it through to the semi-finals and finals. There was no doubt that this year’s team would continue this tradition.
Well done girls on this impressive achievement and good luck!
