The annual Oxford High School Clubs Fair took place on Tuesday 17th of September. The fair was a resounding success, drawing in record numbers of students eager to explore school involvement opportunities. It was held on the Tennis courts with the sun shining brightly over the fair, the event featured over 40 clubs including, interfaith, bee club, sports clubs, FemSoc, debate club, archeology club and LGBTQ+ club.
The vibrant atmosphere was filled with energy as students visited booths, spoke with club representatives, and signed up for activities that matched their passions and interests. Stall holders reported a significant increase in both club registrations and student participation compared to previous years, attributing it to a diverse range of groups available.
One standout highlight was a visit from the bee club, ‘Go Apiary’ who brought along some of the school bees! Ms Babour and the Physics clubs provided badge-making, Cryptic Crossword provided demonstrations on how to solve mind boggling puzzles.
For Year 7 students, the fair provided a valuable opportunity to connect with peers and establish a sense of community at school. “There’s so much to get involved in, and I’m excited to join a few clubs that I didn’t even know existed.” Club leaders were equally enthusiastic about the turnout. “We saw more interest than ever,” said Maya, student leader of the Economics Society.
With this year’s success, we look forward to seeing the impact these new connections will have as students dive into their respective clubs and make lasting contributions to the vibrant student life. This year’s Clubs Fair demonstrated not only the depth of student engagement but also the growing enthusiasm for extracurricular activities. The future of student clubs looks brighter than ever.
