Christmas Concerts at the Junior School

14 December 2016

KS1 girls delighted us with a sparkling selection of seasonal songs. Their astonishing ability to learn so many songs in a short time and to perform with such confidence and feeling gave a splendid start to the festive season.

KS2 presented their Christmas Concert to a packed audience at St Andrew’s church. We heard pieces from the senior orchestra, drumming, clarinet and flute groups. Among the chamber choir songs was the world premiere of Bob Chilcott’s beautiful new carol “The Blackbird with one white Feather”, which was composed for them. The entire KS2 then performed Lin Marsh’s funny new nativity, “Nobody wants to be the donkey”, including a song by the KS2 teachers! The performance ended with the rousing Latin-American song “Cantemos a Maria” before we all sang “We wish you a merry Christmas” to the accompaniment of the wind ensemble.
