The first day of term at Oxford High School was marked by a visit from Cheryl Giovannoni, Chief Executive of the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), who delivered an empowering keynote speech to students and staff. In her address, Cheryl spoke passionately about the importance of finding one’s purpose, harnessing the power of one’s voice, and embracing the courage to lead — themes that resonated deeply with OHS students.
The students of Oxford High were visibly moved by Cheryl’s words, and her message of empowerment was met with enthusiastic applause. As the school embarks on a new academic year, the impact of her speech will undoubtedly serve as a source of inspiration for students to find their own passions and harness the strength of their voices to lead with confidence and compassion.
Cheryl Giovannoni joined the Girls’ Day School Trust as Chief Executive in 2016. Born and brought up in South Africa, Cheryl’s first career saw her leading some of the world’s largest companies in the advertising and creative industries in the WPP Group. Cheryl has spent much of her career supporting women in the workplace, helping them thrive and push the boundaries, often in male dominated industries. She is passionate about the power of education to solve the world’s most intractable problems, and the role women play in creating an equal and better world for all.
Oxford High is proud to have hosted such a dynamic and inspiring female leader to kick off the new term, setting the tone for a year of exploration, growth and empowerment for all students.
