Celebrating Our New Prefects

12 February 2025

This week in assembly, our newly appointed Prefects and House Prefects proudly received their badges and signed the Prefect Book, continuing a long-standing school tradition. These student leaders will play a vital role in shaping school life, representing their peers and fostering a positive and supportive community at Oxford High.

Our Prefect Team consists of 14 students, including the Head Girl, Deputy Head Girl, Chair of School Council, and the GDST Student Council Representative. They work closely with the Head, Director of Sixth Form and senior staff, leading initiatives that make a real impact. Recent examples of their leadership include raising awareness of neurodiversity, championing environmental efforts and launching successful fundraising campaigns for local charities. As role models for younger students, they embody the values of responsibility, collaboration and service.

Alongside the Prefect Team, our House Prefects play a crucial part in school life. Elected annually in Year 12 by their peers and staff, three House Prefects per House take on leadership roles for one year. They work closely with Heads of House to organise and lead a wide range of House activities, including Sports Day, literary quizzes, House choir and House drama competitions. Their dedication helps to strengthen school spirit and encourage participation across all year groups.

Stepping into a leadership role in Sixth Form is both an honour and an opportunity to develop key skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. Congratulations to all our new Prefects—we look forward to seeing you inspire and lead the school community!
