You may remember, earlier in the term, we reported that a number of our Year 13 physicists had taken part in Round 1 of the British Physics Olympiad: a demanding three-hour challenge designed to test the students’ knowledge, preparation, and problem-solving skills.
As a result of achieving ‘Top Gold’ in the challenge, Kitty was invited to participate in Round 2 of the Olympiad, as well as the Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad, and we’re delighted to announce that she has achieved Gold in the former (one out of only 21 students) and Silver in the latter (with only 7 Golds and 15 Silvers awarded in total).
An invitation has now been extended to Kitty to participate in the Selection Camp over Easter, which will involve working with others to solve complex problems, with the potential of being selected to represent the UK in the International Physics Olympiad.
We’d like to offer our heartiest congratulations to Kitty on her exceptional performance!
