In Years 10 and 11, the emphasis lies on helping our girls in their decision-making process, whether be it choosing A Levels or exploring options by finding a placement for work experience.
Year 10
In Year 10, we help students to focus on exploring their skills and discovering the transferability of those skills. We help them to create CVs and cover letters which they will then send out to potential work experience placement providers at the start of Year 11. Our emphasis is on supporting each student to find her own placement, while providing plenty of contacts to aid the process. CV and letter writing workshops, psychometric tests followed by interviews and careers sessions led by experienced experts from Morrisby add to the mix.
Year 11
In Year 11 we discuss phone interviews and how to secure a placement to encourage students to think imaginatively about their work experience, but to alert to the demands of, for example, medical and veterinary medical schools, so that they get the necessary experience before university applications.
By the time girls enter the Sixth Form, they already have an idea of what is available to them from the world of work and many also have an idea of what they want to do.
