At Oxford High Prep School, we have a ‘Sport for All’ ethos through which girls experience countless opportunities to be active, collaborate as part of a team and compete in fixtures. We offer a broad range of activities to ensure that each girl finds a sporting activity that she loves and will carry on in later life.
Our PE curriculum introduces girls to gymnastics, dance and athletics, alongside weekly swimming lessons in our 25m pool. A rotating programme of hockey, netball, football, cricket and tennis happens in their games sessions. Thanks to our proximity to the Senior School, and other local clubs and schools with whom we enjoy links, the girls also benefit from access to all-weather astro pitches, a full-size sports hall and an athletics track.
We believe that a good physical education is as important as an academic education in developing confident, well-rounded individuals. We use sport as the perfect medium to foster qualities such as leadership, co-operation, resilience and empathy. As a result, Oxford High Prep School girls are active, happy and successful.
Regular matches for team sports and swimming galas are organised throughout the year. Our membership of the GDST also enables us to provide the girls with the opportunity to compete at the various rally events arranged by The Trust. Furthermore, OHS has led the way in developing girls’ football with its hugely popular ‘Girls on the Ball’ programme.
