This week, Oxford High School Sixth Form students hosted an extraordinary online Business and Microeconomics Conference, showcasing their exceptional leadership and organisational skills. The event, entirely student-led, attracted participants from over 50 schools and engaged an audience of more than 1,600 students from around the globe.
From initial planning to execution, the students took charge of every detail. They curated a stellar lineup of speakers, handled logistics and delivered an inspiring and professional experience for all attendees.
The conference featured presentations by renowned experts:
- Joana Baptista, an entrepreneur and former Oxford High School student, who shared her insights on social enterprise.
- Professor Peter Eso, of Jesus College, Oxford, who explored the complexities of decision-making.
- Professor Simon Cowan, of Worcester College, Oxford, who delivered a compelling talk on price discrimination.
- Sir Andrew Dilnot, former Warden of Nuffield College, Oxford, and a former OHS parent, who provided an engaging discussion on health and social care, drawing on his expertise as the author of the Dilnot Report.
All the speakers attended virtually, enhancing the accessibility of the conference and enabling attendees to connect with experts from various fields. This conference not only deepened our understanding of business and economics but also demonstrated the potential of young leaders to inspire and impact others on a significant scale. Congratulations to the students for their remarkable achievement and for showcasing the power of student agency in education – and thank you to Mr Gallacher for his support!
