We’re buzzing with excitement that our Bee Club’s honey has been awarded the Campbell Cup at the Oxfordshire Beekeepers Association Honey Show! This prestigious accolade, given for outstanding achievement in beekeeping by those under 30, highlights the dedication and skill of our students in maintaining this vital practice.
A Legacy of Beekeeping Since the 1940s
The Bee Club at Oxford High School is one of our longest-standing co-curricular activities, with roots stretching back to the 1940s. For over 80 years, our students have donned their beekeeper suits, rolled up their sleeves and immersed themselves in the world of bees. What began as a small group of enthusiasts has blossomed into a vital part of school life, fostering curiosity and a deep appreciation for the local ecosystem.
The club provides invaluable hands-on experience, allowing students to actively manage hives, harvest honey and learn about the crucial role of bees in sustaining our ecosystems. Under the guidance of our experienced mentors, students gain a practical understanding of biology, ecology and sustainable practices.
Congratulations to our buzzing beekeepers for this remarkable achievement!
