Highlights from our Student-Led Economics Conference

3 October 2024

On Wednesday 25th September 2024, our sixth form students had the privilege of curating and hosting an inspiring virtual economics conference, which featured a lineup of speakers and engaging discussions around economic concepts. We were joined online by a number of schools online, from all over the world, who were able to contribute questions and participate in discussions from their classrooms.

The conference commenced with a warm welcome and introduction from our students, setting the tone for an informative and dynamic session. With students actively participating in both the organisation and presentation of the event, it was a true testament to their leadership and commitment to academic excellence.

The first speaker, Professor Francesco Zanetti, took the virtual stage to discuss the fascinating world of macroeconomics with his presentation, “What do Macro-economists do?” Following his presentation, Professor Peter Eso introduced the complexities of decision-making in his talk on Game Theory.

Next up was Rositsa Chankova, who explored the intricacies of writing macroeconomic essays. The final speaker, Professor Andrea Ferrero, captivated the audience with his presentation on “Currency Unions in Theory and in Reality.”

We are incredibly proud of our students for their hard work and dedication in organising this conference. Their enthusiasm and commitment to economics truly shone through, leaving participants inspired and informed. We look forward to future conferences, fostering collaboration and learning in our community!
