On Wednesday, our Year 5 students successfully presented their Chinese Shadow Puppet Shows for their parents. The students began by exploring the history and cultural significance of Chinese shadow puppets, gaining a deep appreciation for this traditional art form. They then crafted engaging stories in Chinese, enhancing their language skills and fostering creativity and teamwork. A visit to the Pitt Rivers Museum provided hands-on experience with real shadow puppets. Students designed and crafted their unique puppets; they looked at Chinese Opera Music and selected instruments to accompany their shows, to add a musical dimension. Throughout the project, they were highly engaged, enjoyed the process and took great pride in their performances.
