Written by the Year 10 Italian Class
On Tuesday 27th February, the Year 10 Italian class went to the Prep School to do a workshop with Year 3 students. We taught them basic sounds, phrases, colours and numbers up to 10. We taught them through interactive activities, with house points to play for if they did well in the challenges. They were very enthusiastic and participated well throughout the different activities.
We were positively surprised to see how quickly they picked up the new vocabulary, and how they could recall it later in the workshops. Even though we were nervous at the start, this proved to be an amazing experience. It helped us to reinforce the basics and taught us how to prepare and teach a lesson.
We also learnt ways to get the quieter students involved, such as when trying to get them to read something out loud; we asked the students if they wanted to say it at the same time as one of us, which got several quieter students speaking with and without us saying. This proved to be a very rewarding experience, as it showed us that we have the skills to be able to teach a variety of different students who have individual personalities.
