Head’s Awards

This week, our students’ individual achievements and successes were recognised in the Head’s Awards assembly. The awards are given for exceptional performances both inside and outside of school. 

Congratulations to the following students:

Clotilde R (Year 9) is consistently performing to an excellent standard in show jumping, including placing at the Blue Chip Championships and Pony of the Year Show, qualifying for two classes in the British Show Jumping National Championship (and finishing 6th at the National final of one of those classes), jumping rounds at Aintree and finishing 6th in the Aintree 138 Major Grand Prix as well as 2nd in one of the qualifiers. 

Well done to Leonora P (Year 11) and Amy W (Year 11) who both received a Head’s Award for the European Astro Pi Challenge: Mission Space Lab 2022/23. They achieved a ‘Highly Commended’ certificate after successfully running code on the International Space Station to collect physical data and interpret the results.

Emily C (Year 11) continues to impress us all with her supreme achievements in squash. She recently gained Number 1 position in the Welsh Open. She also gained Number 1 position in the Bucks Silver National Tournament, gaining a result that means she is tipped to be selected to play for England. 

Shambavi H (Year 8) competed in the European Chess Championships, representing England at U12 level. She showed great maturity and resilience over the tournament, losing only 2/9 games and placing 25/90 competitors overall.

Congratulations to Kimia P (Year 11) who has won the Judges’ Choice Award for the IF-Oxford Poetry Science Competition with her superb poem ‘Ventilation’. We are very proud of your achievement. 

Well done Lena Z (Year 11) on taking part in this year’s Stephen Spender Prize for Poetry in Translation. Lena’s translation of  “and everyone of us will have their own war…” by Natalka Marynchak, has been named one of three Highly Commended entries in the KS3-4 category of the Ukrainian Spotlight. 

Iphigenie T (Year 13) worked incredibly hard over the summer and entered the prestigious Mary Renault Classical Essay Competition at St Hugh’s College, Oxford. The Committee were greatly impressed by the quality of her essay, and invited her to afternoon tea at St Hugh’s. Her essay title was ‘Discussing the reception of the Latin language in British education in the modern era’.

Ciera T (Year 13) received a silver medal in skating at the Irish National Championships, which means she can be selected for the Irish national team. She has also been selected to skate at the World Junior Grand Prix taking place in Armenia at the start of October 2023.

Rebecca W’s (Year 13) photograph won the Royal Academy Young Artists’ Summer show and was displayed in person and online. Rebecca also featured as Girls’ Schools Association (GSA) ‘Woman of the Week’ for the week beginning 11th September 2023.

Many congratulations to Mysha B (Year 12) on being selected for the British Dressage Foundation Academy Training Programme.

Isabel B (Year 12) and her horse Mr Darcy, came 8th in the Schools Equestrian Games Championships. Well done!

Sophia B, Eva C, Serena K, Grace M, Emma R (Year 13) have all been given Head’s Awards for fantastic work in organising and delivering an outstanding Politics conference on ‘Political Extremism in Europe’. Your contributions on the day were stunning and showcased the department, our school but above all yourselves as confident students who were fearless and engaged in academic work at the highest level.

Harriet P (Year 13) gave an excellent presentation to staff at the weekly Teaching and Learning briefing to explain the benefits of the student feedback log. Lots of colleagues were impressed by how confidently and clearly you presented and answered questions. Well done!

Congratulations to Gabi P and Lara S (Year 13) for championing participation in Clubs by leading the Clubs Fair assemblies and organising a really energetic and inspiring whole school event.

Well done to Simran G, Arya V, Annabel D, Charlotte J, Maisie K, Grace M, Jessica S and Radhika V (Year 13) for their  fantastic work organising and running a wonderful ‘Business and Financial Economics’ conference.  

Well done to Lina B, Nathalie E, Grace M and Ciera T (Year 13) for an outstanding ‘Economics’ conference bringing together some of the best experts on the UK economy to deliver a world class event.

Well done Tilly M (Year 13) on taking part in this year’s Stephen Spender Prize for Poetry in Translation. Tilly’s translation of “Wolf and the Watchman” has been chosen as one of three winners in the KS5 category of the Schools Laureate Prize.
