Shambavi, Year 8, participated in the European Youth Chess Championship in Romania, representing England in the ‘Under 12 Girls’ category. This exciting competition invites top chess players from all over Europe to compete.
This year, over 900 participants gathered to take part. Shambavi left the tournament with three wins, four draws and two losses, placing her 25th out of 90 contestants in her category. She tested her strength and mental endurance against strong opponents from different countries, which has improved her confidence inside and outside the classroom. Well done Shambavi!
“Shambavi’s dedication is an example to all of us; so too is how she understands that mistakes and setbacks are valuable learning experiences. We’re all very, very proud of Shambavi.” Mr Pelling, Head of Year 8
