Mrs Dalloway is one of our A Level English texts. The book is set on a Wednesday in the middle of June 1923, and so 2023 is the centenary year. To mark this, many people are celebrating the day in which James Joyce’s Ulysses is set. Within our English lessons, it was fun to recreate the essence of the book, as part of our school-wide Dalloway Day.
We celebrated in English by dramatising the final party scene, having ‘champagne’ (sparkling elderflower). Also, some students dressed in their most ‘Woolf’ outfits and brought in flowers. We read extracts from the book and generally channelled our ‘Woolfness’.
