Having sailed through their last group game against Malvern College with a 6-0 victory, the question was, could the OHS footballers maintain this form in the ISFA Quarter-Finals?
After a strong start by OHS, the possibility of a walk in the park dwindled following a surprise goal by opponents Alleyn’s. However, under the strong captaincy of Y13 Georgia, the girls managed to equalise before the whistle went for half-time with a deft goal by Cora. In the second-half, OHS came out fighting and dominated the midfield, with the OHS back four shutting down Alleyn’s most dangerous player, but no goals were forthcoming. As the match went to extra-time, OHS took the opportunity to make their own luck, and there followed a series of excellent runs on goal, the last of which saw Georgia deliver a neat cross which Olivia converted into a beautiful goal.
The girls kept working hard for the last few nervous minutes of the game, before the last and final whistle blew and the celebrations began. Next up, the semi-finals, which will be played against either Loughborough High or St Joesph’s.
