Gardener/ Caretaker
Required: August 2025
Contract term: Permanent.
Working time: Full time, all year round, 36 hour week, working 5 days out of the seven. Although predominantly a day shift there will be a requirement to work early, late and weekend shifts. Hours will vary due to lettings and events and may include week and weekend days.
Please be aware that a degree of flexibility with your working arrangements is required to meet the needs of the busy school calendar.
Competitive Salary plus benefits: £26,400.00
The role:
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure that the school grounds, landscaped areas and gardens are maintained to an exceptional standard. You will be responsible for designing and implementing planting schemes focused on showcasing the school throughout the seasons.
You may also be required to undertake a range of basic property maintenance duties concerned with the school premises and other additional duties to support the operation of the school. You will be a key member of the premises team at our lively independent school working across three sites and reporting to the Premises Manager.
The successful candidate will have a sound knowledge of gardening and grounds maintenance, security and emergency procedures, preferable but not essential good maintenance skills and experience of providing routine preventative maintenance. You will have the ability to work effectively on your own initiative as well as in collaboration with other teams. Your excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to young people, parents, colleagues and external agencies will set you apart.
