We are proud to announce that a short film created by our students was nominated for The Young Film Academy’s (YFA) 10 Shot Film Awards.
Last academic year, Year 9 students took part in One Day Film School, run by the YFA, where they learnt the basics of filmmaking and then were challenged to create a short film using their newly acquired skills. The film nominated, Memories Bring You Back, was made by Hannah S, Eliza J, Sofia L, Mary L, Anki C, Hailey W and Hayley C.
The awards recognise filmmaking excellence in UK schools. Since 2008, over 85,000 students have participated in the One Day Film School, learning all aspects of the filmmaking process from screenwriting and film history to camerawork and editing.
The 10 Shot Film Awards showcase the best 2-minute films produced by groups of students across 125 schools in the UK. Recognising originality combined with technical filmmaking skills, the awards provide a platform to showcase emerging talent and encourage young people to pursue a career in the British Film Industry. The judging panel was headed by Robin Kinsey, Vice President of Marketing at Walt Disney Studios EMEA & UK – Marvel, Lucasfilm & 20th Century Studios.
