The Careers Centre is located in the hub of the school, offering space for research and discussion. At the heart of the Careers ethos at OHS lies experimentation. We like to give the students the chance to try working lives on for size. Led by Dr Claudia Strobel, the girls receive one to one guidance conversations to help to clarify interests and pursue ideas. They are encouraged to make full use of the 70,000 strong GDST Alumnae network which ensures our students are equipped with all the contacts they need now whilst exploring university destinations and in their future professions.
Our annual careers evening gives students the chance to make contacts of their own with over 70 speakers representing different professions and career paths. Each year it’s a different format, to prevent fixed ways of thinking about work and to allow the girls to build confidence in networking, asking questions and discovering new fields to spark their interest. The event comprises large-scale networking, 1:1 discussions and panel sessions for detailed questions and answers.
We have held the prestigious Investors in Careers award since 2009 and recent reports can be found here.
