Future Pathways

Shaping the Future with Purpose, not Permission

At Oxford High School GDST, we don’t prepare students to fit into the world, we prepare them to shape it. Through personalised guidance, a collaborative community of thinkers and leaders, and an unshakeable belief in their potential, every girl leaves our Sixth Form ready to forge a path that’s unapologetically hers.

Careers and Higher Education Guidance

Our Sixth Form careers programme is purposefully designed to champion each girl’s unique journey. From the first day of Year 12, personalised support guides her through every stage of university and career decision-making and empowers her to explore boldly, build her strengths and shape pathways that reflect who she truly is.

Whether she is navigating degree options, crafting a standout CV or considering alternatives beyond higher education, our expert team is dedicated to helping her make confident, informed choices that fuel her future impact.

University and Global Opportunities

Our students set their sights high, whether at UK institutions or beyond, and we back their ambitions with tailored one-to-one support for global university applications, Russell Group universities, conservatoires, Art Foundation courses, Oxbridge, Ivy League and everything in between.

Our commitment is to support every girl in forging a path that’s authentically hers, not a one-size-fits-all journey. Through strategic partnerships with platforms, such as Unifrog, Medic Portal and OxLEP Skills, we equip students with the tools and insights to explore diverse careers and craft compelling, competitive applications that open doors worldwide.

Work Experience and Insight

Careers Education powers real-world impact. Through immersive placements, purposeful volunteering, dynamic workshops and transformative events, our students cultivate confidence, build influential networks and gain authentic insight into the future of work.

The strength of the GDST community amplifies everything we do. Oxford High Sixth Form students have benefitted from exclusive Career Insight Days with leaders from organisations such as Rolls-Royce, PwC, BP, UBS, Linklaters, alongside bespoke mentoring from our 100,000-strong GDST alumnae network. These connections open doors, expand horizons, and inspire our girls to envision futures without limits.

Careers & Futures Programme

At Oxford High Sixth Form, preparation for the future is not left to Year 13. It is intentional, structured and ambitious from the outset.

Our careers programme is designed to give students more than information, it is designed to give them access. Direct access to the people shaping the world right now, but also to insight, to expertise, and to the realities of competitive pathways powered by real stories and bold ideas. Throughout the year, students engage directly with leaders, entrepreneurs, academics and innovators who are shaping their fields now. These are not generic talks; they are rigorous, focused conversations about decision-making, resilience, failure, ambition and leadership. Students are encouraged to question, to challenge and to explore what success truly looks like in a rapidly evolving world.

Key Highlights

Annual Careers Event and Universities Fair
Bringing together Oxford High School and GDST alumnae, leading universities and major employers, this event provides genuine insight and dialogue. It’s not brochures, but conversations. Students leave with contacts, clarity and concrete next steps.

Conference Programme
Our student-led Conference programme offers targeted admissions guidance, personal insight from practising professionals, and advice on navigating some of the most competitive Higher Education pathways. Alongside annual Medicine and Law Conferences, which offer high-level, specialist conference advice and guidance for aspiring medics, dentists, and vets and lawyers, recent highlights of the Conference Programme have focused on Sustainable Technologies, Fashion and Linguistics.

GDST CareerStart Programme
A series of expert-led webinars and workshops running throughout the academic year, covering topics such as emerging industries, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, digital innovation and global leadership. Students gain early exposure to sectors they may not yet have considered and the confidence to explore them further.

These experiences do more than broaden horizons. They sharpen ambition. They give students a realistic understanding of what competitive pathways demand and the tools to meet that demand with assurance.
