Sixth Form Curriculum

Our Sixth Form curriculum is designed to inspire deep thinking, academic ambition and a genuine love of learning.

Students are challenged not only to master their subjects, but to question them, to analyse, evaluate and think critically with independence and intellectual confidence.

Supported by exceptional teaching and a culture that celebrates curiosity and leadership, they develop the confidence to form their own views, test ideas rigorously and engage thoughtfully with the world around them.

Academic Expertise and the Oxford High Difference

At Oxford High School Sixth Form, academic ambition and fearless curiosity go hand in hand.

Our Sixth Form curriculum is designed to inspire deep thinking, academic independence, and a genuine love of learning.

Students are challenged to explore their subjects with intellectual confidence while supported by exceptional teaching, expert guidance, and a culture that celebrates curiosity, creativity and leadership.

Ambition Powered by Choice

Most students begin with four A Level subjects in Year 12, with the option of a fifth for those taking Further Mathematics.

We offer an extensive range of subjects and tailor our timetable around student choices, enabling a rich variety of combinations across disciplines.

The result is a programme that prepares our students not only for outstanding exam results and first-choice university destinations, but for bold futures shaped by insight, agility and purpose.

Beyond the Curriculum

Academic life at Oxford High Sixth Form reaches far beyond the classroom. From the Economics, Medicine and Politics Conferences to the Linguistics, Law and Maths events, and visiting artists, speakers and academics, students are immersed in the live debates and developments shaping their disciplines.

These experiences are not add-ons. They are purposeful extensions of academic study with opportunities to interrogate ideas, think critically, challenge assumptions and articulate their views with clarity and confidence. In doing so, students learn to connect scholarship with the wider world, understanding not just what they study, but why it matters.

Thinking Beyond Limits

The Extended Research Day and Articulation Competition exemplify this approach. Students present original research, defend their ideas, and articulate perspectives with conviction while learning to communicate with clarity and courage.

Through masterclasses and our Limitless Learning form-time discussions, they explore wider reading and emerging fields, often led by staff and students alike.

This culture of limitless learning nurtures thinkers who don’t just absorb knowledge, but challenge it.

Academic Challenge and Leadership

At every stage, Oxford High Sixth Form students are encouraged to lead, in thought, in action, and in community. Our prefect teams, peer mentors, social action projects such as fundraising activities, and student-led clubs and societies all provide platforms for meaningful leadership. These experiences build empathy, confidence and initiative, empowering students to take ownership of their ideas and ambitions.

When our students step into Sixth Form, and ultimately into university, they do so with a proven capacity for independent thinking and academic depth. They understand how to learn, how to lead, and how to question intelligently.

This is the Oxford High School Sixth Form difference: exceptional academic results achieved through opportunity, inspiration and challenge. We provide an education that equips every girl to think boldly, act fearlessly, and shape the future with purpose.
