It has never been a more exciting time to join the Sixth Form at OHS. Our Sixth Form Programme offers a completely innovative approach to learning and preparation for life beyond school whilst ensuring the academic rigour that Oxford High is renowned for.

Entry for Current OHS Pupils

It is anticipated that current Year 11 pupils in Oxford High School will transfer automatically to the Sixth Form. On the rare occasion that it is deemed a pupil will not flourish in the Sixth Form at Oxford High School, discussions will be held with her parents as soon as possible to offer advice about future options and aspirations.

Entry to Sixth Form (16+) in September 2024

External applications are warmly invited for Sixth Form (Year 12) entry. Our minimum entry requirements are at least 5 A*/A grades or grade 7 or above at GCSE, and it is expected that you will achieve an A* or grade 8/9 in the subjects you want to study at A Level. In addition, external candidates are required to achieve at least a grade A, or grade 7 or above, in English Language and Mathematics. Should an applicant wish to change their subject choices following tests, offer or acceptance of offer, we reserve the right to re-test and/or re-interview.

We do not accept applications for Year 13 entry.

Step 1: Visit Us

Our Admissions Events provide an opportunity for you to meet our Head, Mrs Marina Gardiner Legge, and our dedicated staff and current pupils whether virtually or in person.

You can visit our Admissions events page to register for an upcoming event.

Step 2: Apply

We recommend applying as early as possible in the year preceding entry using our online application form. All applications for entry to the Sixth Form should be submitted by Sunday 5th November 2023. Please check our Key Admissions Dates to see all dates relevant to your daughter’s admissions journey.

Overseas candidates should refer to the Key Admissions Dates for Overseas Applicants.

You will be asked to upload a current passport photo. There is a non-refundable registration fee of £100 (£150 for overseas applicants). If you are in receipt of income support then we are able to waive this fee, providing proof of income support is sent through. Please contact our Senior School Registrars (admissions@oxf.gdst.net or 01865 478678) for further information.

Bursary Application

To apply for a bursary, you must tick the box on the initial registration form or let the Admissions team know in writing.

Bursaries can only be awarded to candidates applying in the main application round; those who apply after the deadline in the autumn preceding the year of entry regrettably will not be eligible for a bursary. Applications for bursaries cannot be made to the Trust once offers have been made.

If you have ticked the bursary box on the application form (or let one of the Admissions team know in writing), and you have applied before the deadline for the main point of entry (see Key Admission Dates), you will be contacted once the Trust’s online bursary application portal is open in October, where you can log-in and complete the bursary application form prior to the bursary application deadline, Sunday 19th November 2023.

All bursary applications are assessed independently by the Fees Office of the GDST and applications are means-tested, taking into account parental income and assets. In addition to satisfying the means-tested criteria, recipients of bursary awards must also score highly in our admissions assessments. GDST bursaries range from 30% to 100% of school fees; however, the amount of any bursary depends on individual circumstances, local demand and the funding available. Sometimes awards of a lesser value may be offered. Please visit our Bursaries page for details of this year’s bursary assessment criteria.

Step 3: Sixth Form Taster Day

The Sixth Form Taster Day for entry in September 2024 will take place between Monday 20th November to Friday 1st December 2023. Registered applicants will be invited to attend Sixth Form lessons, sit the entrance exams and take part in a panel  interview with the Director of Sixth Form and two Heads of Departments relating to the subject choices that your daughter is interested in taking during her time with us.

Entrance Exams

During the day, candidates will sit computer-based assessments using Atom Learning, which includes Comprehension and Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative and Non-Verbal Reasoning assessments.

Your daughter will also sit a 30 minute hand-written English task as part of her entrance assessments.

Prior to Sixth Form Taster Day, we will send a parent Atom Learning FAQ sheet, which includes a small familiarisation exercise to help candidates understand how the assessment will be laid out.

Reference from Current School

We will contact a candidate’s current school for a reference using the information provided in the application form. Please ensure the details provided are of an individual, preferably the Head, of your daughter’s current school, not of an individual external to your daughter’s education.

Step 4: Offers and Acceptance

Parents will be informed of the outcome of their daughter’s application on Friday 15th December 2023. Bursary awards will also be communicated to parents at this point.

Acceptance of Offers

The deadline for accepting a conditional or unconditional place offer is Monday 15th January 2024. On the acceptance of a place, a deposit of £1,000 is payable, which the school retains until the end of the pupil’s final term in the school and which is refunded within 12 weeks of her leaving, less any sums owing to the Girls’ Day School Trust or the school at that time. The deposit is forfeited if the pupil does not take up the accepted place.

Step 5: Scholarship Application

Academic Scholarships

Candidates in receipt of an offer for Sixth Form entry will automatically be considered for an Academic Scholarship, following acceptance of their place. All Sixth Form academic scholarships and exhibitions are awarded based on GCSE results and will be communicated to students shortly after the start of the academic year in September 2024.  Academic Scholars are required to make a full contribution to the academic life of the school and to participate fully in OWLS (Oxford and Wimbledon Leading Scholars).

Art, Drama, Music and Sport Scholarships

Candidates in receipt of an offer for Sixth Form entry also have the opportunity to apply for an Art, Drama, Music or Sport Scholarship (candidates can apply for up to 2 categories). We also offer Exhibitions in these categories. These Scholarships are held for the duration of the time that your daughter is at Oxford High School, subject to satisfactory progress and behaviour.

The Scholarship application deadline is Monday 15th January 2024. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed in early February 2024 and the outcome will be communicated to you on Friday 15th March 2024. Please visit our Scholarships page for more information.
