Our Prefect Team leads the student body. There are 12 Prefects, including the Head Girl, Deputy Head Girl, Chair of School Council and the GDST Student Council Representative.

In addition to representing the school at key events, each Prefect leads on a particular area of school life and takes responsibility for liaising with staff, chairing relevant sub-committees and representing views in School Council meetings. Our prefects work closely with the Headmaster and Director of Sixth Form and other senior members of staff and we enjoy enabling them to put their ideas into practice. Examples of the impact that prefects have had on school life include leading the re-design of the Crush Hall, raising awareness of neurodiversity, introducing various green initiatives such as meat-free Mondays, and introducing charities and clubs fairs.

Sports Leaders

Many OHS girls choose to pursue the Sports Leadership qualification in addition to their academic studies. The Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership, as it is known, is a nationally recognised qualification that qualifies students to lead groups of people in sporting activity under indirect supervision.

It is a fascinating qualification, teaching core leadership skills such as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of sport. It is fun and practical, with no entrance requirements or final examinations to sit – and, as you can see, it’s also great fun!

Come and see for yourself
