Our Sixth Form Programme offers a completely innovative approach to learning and preparation for life beyond school whilst ensuring the academic rigour that Oxford High is renowned for.
We encourage all parents and prospective Sixth Form students to attend our Sixth Form Open Evening which takes place in the Autumn Term. The event provides the opportunity to meet our Head, the Director of Sixth Form, Deputy Head (Academic) and all Heads of Departments. You can explore the many A Level subjects on offer and see what life in the Sixth Form at OHS has to offer you.
We recommend registering your daughter as early as possible in the year preceding entry as the Sixth Form Admissions Day usually takes place in November of the Autumn Term.
Entry Requirements
External applicants are required to meet our minimum entry requirements which are at least 5 A*/A grades, or grade 7 or above at GCSE, including an A*/A grade/grade 7 or above in the subjects you want to study at A Level, if applicable. In addition, external candidates are required to achieve at least a grade B, or grade 6 or above, in English Language and Mathematics.
Interview Process and Selection
Once registered, your daughter will be asked to complete a Sixth Form Application Form and we will contact her current school to request a reference and predicted grades. She will then be invited to attend a Sixth Form Admissions Day where she will complete a 30 minute written task, an online CAT4 Reasoning assessment and have two interviews. The Head, Director of Sixth Form and Deputy Head, Academic, will conduct interviews. Your daughter will also be asked to bring a Portfolio if she wants to study Art-related subjects.
Offers of places will be made before the end of the Autumn Term of the year preceding entry (e.g. December 2020 to start in the academic year 2021-2022).
Bursaries and Scholarships
Bursaries and Scholarships are available upon entry to the Sixth Form.
Applications for a GDST Bursary start early in the Autumn Term preceding the year of entry, and there is provision on the registration form to indicate interest. Please see our Scholarships and Bursaries Booklet for more information.
Girls in receipt of an offer for a Year 12 place also have the opportunity to apply for a Scholarship. Details of how to submit a Scholarship application will be sent with their place offer. The Scholarship process starts in the Spring Term preceding entry and eligible girls are invited to apply for Academic, Art, Music, Drama and Sport Scholarships. Girls who have been offered a place will be invited to attend Taster Days throughout the Spring Term to give them the chance to experience Oxford High School’s Sixth Form offer and to meet other entrants into our Sixth Form.
Should you have any questions or would like to arrange a visit then please do feel free to get in touch with us via email (admissions@oxf.gdst.net) or telephone (01865 559888). We are always happy to assist and we very much hope that we will be able to welcome you to our school soon.
