Short Story: The Pied Piper Of Hamelin (With Cats!)

21 June 2020

Written by Sophie (Year 7)

You’ve probably heard of ‘The Pied Piper of Hamelin’ but what about with cats…

Throughout lockdown, I’ve been having a walk in the evening. At first, it was just me, my mum, and my dad. Soon our cat felt left out so he came along too. He was so sweet, he would bound ahead and then wait for us to catch up.

Soon he had made some friends (and a lover!). The next night a similar-looking cat came as well and he ran from car to car trying not to be seen.  Because of this, we name him Prancer. The following week our cat’s ‘lover” came too, her name is Sky. She and our cat chase each other and then walk alongside each other.

Soon after the rest of the cats in the lane came as well! There was a black one who eats our cat’s food so we named him Greedy. A pure white one that we named Snowdrop and a white cat with one black ear so we called her Splatter.

Every night they come with us and they have become my best friends throughout lockdown!
