Perspectives Talk with Gwen Faure

10 January 2022

Our program of speakers for Year 13 kicked off this term with an engaging discussion entitled Female Empowerment and the Future of Work with Gwen Faure. An anthropologist, consultant and OHS alumna, Gwen is motivated by the importance of genuine equality and analysing the way we as a society approach work.

Having previously worked at a banking firm and seeing how her teams, particularly her female colleagues, experienced gender issues, Gwen was driven to ensure that they were not only comfortable and happy in the workplace but she also wanted to encourage her female colleagues to be more visible and heard. Gwen is a board member at The Women’s Foundation Hong Kong, and part of her work also looks at how males can positively participate in female empowerment and gender equality in the workplace.

One of our students, Amy, commented:

It was really interesting to hear her honest and detailed opinions about her demanding career in the world of finance and consulting and the realities of being a woman in a traditionally male-dominated field.”

Thank you, Gwen! It was wonderful to have you back at OHS (albeit virtually!) and discuss with our Year 13s a topic which will undoubtedly be relevant to them.
