OHS Film Club

26 November 2020

There are few among us who don’t enjoy kicking back to watch a good movie, whether you consider yourself a film fanatic or not. But how many of us actually consider the art of filmmaking when we’re watching the latest Best Picture or silver screen classic? One of our OHS film enthusiasts, Martha (Year 13), has decided to set up a weekly club to do just that.

Dedicated to all things film, the club will bring together likeminded students from across Years 12 and 13 to watch, share, learn and discuss.

From Martha: “I think it is very important for all of us to have an escape from our everyday academic activities, and I have found watching and creating films to be the perfect solution. Because moviemaking is such a diverse industry, with many different roles within it, from directing, filming, and acting, to financing, and costume and prop design, it is all inclusive. I decided to set up Film Club, with the valuable help of Miss Brooks, to share my passion for film with other students in the school, and to provide them with a way of channelling their creativity and trying something new.

In the club we will be watching trailers, film clips, and chatting about all things film, and hopefully, later in the year – if the COVID restrictions are eased – we will get to produce our own short films!”
