Year 7 Problem Solving and Team Building Day

This week, Year 7 students at Oxford High School GDST took part in a dedicated problem-solving and team-building day, designed to support their transition into Senior School.

The programme challenged pupils with a series of tasks that encouraged them to think creatively, break down complex problems and work collaboratively with their peers. These activities not only develop critical skills for academic success but also help students build resilience, communication and confidence, qualities that prepare them for life beyond the classroom.

Starting Senior School can feel like a big step. That’s why the day was about more than just puzzles and challenges; it was an opportunity to form new friendships, strengthen bonds within their form group and build trust in a supportive environment.

The atmosphere was filled with energy, laughter and teamwork as students worked together to achieve shared goals. By the end of the day, pupils had not only sharpened their problem-solving skills but also grown closer as a community.

Mrs Townend, Head of Year 7, said:

“It’s been fantastic to see our students tackle every challenge with confidence and creativity, while staying true to themselves. Moments like these show the value of collaboration and courage.”

At Oxford High School GDST, we believe in nurturing fearless ambition and limitless learning, and our Year 7 team-building day is just one example of how we support students as they begin their Senior School journey.
