The School Magazine is published in January each year and covers the previous academic year’s news and sporting achievements. It is led by an editorial team of Sixth Formers, and includes writing, design and layout contributed by students of all ages, members of staff and alumnae.

Editing the magazine is a challenging task as it has a broad audience and a loyal following including alumnae across the world. Producing the magazine is a steep learning curve for Sixth Formers (“What? you mean we have to write it ourselves?”) and gives them an invaluable opportunity to develop leadership skills.

This launch of this year’s OHS magazine was literally that, as the Good Ship Sunflower set sail into 2015.  Our nautical theme was a real pleasure to work with, the editorial team signed up as the ship’s crew, directed their eyes ‘Westward ho!” and shouted ‘Ahoy!’ as they filed each piece of copy.

This maritime magazine revealed the voyages and discoveries of 2014 at Oxford High School, with creative submissions, tales of trips and events, and of course the Overheards in the Corridor and Form Notes.  Our destination port was to inform, entertain and record. We hope we have succeeded.  With a particularly artistic magazine team this year, we hope you enjoy building your own boat, dressing Salty Sue, discovering hidden treasure and learning what deep sea creature you are.  We have had masses of fun putting it together and are very proud of the result.
