Farewell to Judith Carlisle

22 August 2017

The Summer Term proved to be a fitting finale to OHS’s goodbye to our outgoing Head, Judith Carlisle. A whole school picnic, followed by an aerial tribute of the Oxford High motto Ad Lucem, a flashmob performance by the Oxford High Junior School, warm words from our GDST Chief Executive Cheryl Giovannoni, an elegant evening hosted by our Governors at Blenheim Palace, and a wonderful tribute from the girls and staff with personal memories, anecdotes and photographs.  During her six-year tenure at Oxford High School, Mrs Carlisle  built on the outstanding reputation of the school as a pioneer in girls’ education, with real expertise in teaching high achieving girls. She fostered a culture of resilience, creativity and a love of academic rigour and intellectual curiosity. She also led the continuing success of our thriving Junior School, as well as outstanding results at GCSE and A Level. Her work on anti-perfectionism leaves a huge legacy for students and staff alike and we wish you all the best for your new role as Head of Bishop Strachan School in Toronto, Canada!
